Learning structure
Short description. The training would be a short look at the creation of fictional stories, including an understanding of basic story structures, character and plot development, world-building, and dialogue construction.
Content: The training will include:
theory of an understanding of basic story structures;
possible ways of character and plot development theory;
knowledge how world-building, and dialogue construction works;
A brief discussion on genre topics and specific tropes.
Developed skills. These trainings will let you understand the basics of fiction writing and storytelling and how all the important parts that are included match at the end.
Target group. VMU academic and non-academic staff and PhD students.
Duration. 3 academic hours.
Place. The course will be held virtually on MS Teams.
Professional development practices by groups of competencies. Group 1 - general (foreign languages, intercultural communication and cooperation, digital literacy, etc.) and Group 3 - personal (personal development, time management, etc.)
The direction of professional development practices. Level A training program (beginners) - for those who want to acquire new competences and update their general knowledge.
Teachers
Jaq Greenspon is a professional writer whose career has had several incarnations. He spent his formative years in Hollywood, where he wrote movies and TV shows as well as numerous books and articles about the entertainment industry. Upon completing his MFA in Creative Writing from UNLV, he embarked on a career as an educator, which eventually landed him in Lithuania where he is currently an Associate Professor at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. More recently, he has rediscovered a passion from his youth, comic books, and is transitioning his academic work to examine this underappreciated art form.
